ECREEE Covid-19 Energy Recovery Project – Sierra Leone

  • ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE)

  • Westwind Energy (Wonder Stoves – Sierra Leone)

  • Index World Group (Technical Leadership)

🧭 Project Background & Objective

In response to the socio-economic and public health challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, ECREEE launched the Covid-19 Energy Recovery Project aimed at fostering sustainable energy access across West Africa. One critical pillar of this regional initiative was Clean Cooking Energy—designed to mitigate the dependency on traditional biomass fuels in vulnerable communities.

In Sierra Leone, this initiative sought to introduce clean cookstoves to households as a solution to indoor air pollution, deforestation, and energy poverty — while enhancing public health and empowering local economies.

🎯 Role of Index World Group
